LIA Association
From September 23rd to November 12th 2006, the LIA Association (an acronym for lieu, images, et art, that is, places, images and art) exhibited 12 pieces from a private collection in their stunningly beautiful exhibition space in Grenoble's old Bastille fortress, in southeastern France. The space was allocated in 2004 with "the aim of offering a new approach to contemporary art for the broad public, far beyond the small circle of those already initiated." If the broad public don't flock, it's certaintly not LIA's fault.
The recent show featured the works of Quentin Armand, Philippe Bazin, Nicolas Darrot, Mark Dion, Hubert Duprat, Thomas Grünfeld, Rebecca Horn, Véronique Joumard, Wolfgang Laib, Panamarenko, Andreas Slominski, and Janaina Tschäpe. The image below shows one of Thomas Grünfeld's taxidermied Misfits, this time a cross between an ostrich and a sheep. Mark Dion's enormous suspended mole is also on display. A video of the entire exhibit is available on LIA's website: http://www.lia-grenoble.net/english/planning.html
